Grays Harbor County Emergency Management Serves 15 Districts

Grays Harbor County Emergency Management operates from its office at 310 W Spruce Ave in Montesano, coordinating disaster preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery efforts across the region. The department can be reached by phone at (360) 249-3911 or by email at ghcdem@graysharbor.us.

The department's reach spans a multi-jurisdictional network that includes the cities of Aberdeen, Cosmopolis, Elma, Hoquiam, McCleary, Montesano, Oakville, Ocean Shores, and Westport. It also works with the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation, the Quinault Indian Nation, all 15 County Fire Districts, and every Grays Harbor County department.

At the center of the department's operations is the Emergency Operations Center, which is maintained in a constant state of readiness. During a countywide disaster, the EOC serves as the hub for information gathering, strategic decision making, resource allocation, and incident coordination, bringing together representatives from law enforcement, fire services, public health, environmental health, and emergency medical services.

The department also holds designations under the StormReady and TsunamiReady programs, which recognize communities that have taken steps to prepare for severe weather and tsunami events. Recent public education efforts included a January presentation on tsunami risk and response by Washington State Emergency Management Division's Elyssa Tappero, and a Lake Sylvia Town Hall held in Montesano on December 11, 2025.
