The Sourdough Fire, a small wildfire burning on a steep slope near Sourdough Mountain in Olympic National Park, has grown to 0.75 acres as of August 6, according to the National Park Service. Fire crews and helicopters are working to contain the blaze, which has minimal fire behavior and no evacuation orders in place.
Several trails and campsites are closed, including the Aurora Ridge Trail, North Fork Sol Duc Trail, Eagles Lakes Campsite, and Aurora Springs Campsite. Stage 2 fire restrictions take effect August 7, prohibiting campfires within Olympic National Park and Olympic National Forest. The National Park Service urges residents and visitors to check its website for updates on closures and restrictions.
