The United States Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded the Port of Grays Harbor a $6. 2 million grant to replace Westport Marina's Float 21. The grant will be matched by $2. 6 million in non-federal funds, totaling $8. 8 million for the project.
The Westport Marina, Washington's top seafood landing port, is modernizing its aging dock infrastructure. The project will replace 45-60-year-old docks with wider and longer slips to accommodate larger fishing vessels. The new configuration includes fifteen 55-foot slips, six 90-foot slips, and one 100-foot slip, extending from a 495-lineal-foot main float. The project also includes new utilities, electrical service, and fire suppression systems.
Port officials stated the project will support hundreds of jobs and improve safety and environmental conditions at the marina. Construction is expected to begin following final permits and funding confirmation.
